From: Peter Wilkes

Hi,

I thought I would get in touch letting you know what my experience of Camping Ebroasis has been,

I stayed on the site three times last year and spent more than three weeks in total driving around, sightseeing and fishing.

I have booked to go back as Tom, Linda and their son have been very helpful with local advice, obtaining fishing licences (essential to be done in advance of a visit), and pointing us in the right direction as regards finding places of interest, swimming pools and places to eat. I have also made friends with the local ex-pats who are a very friendly bunch and always up for telling of their experiences! Barbeques at the site are attended by the locals and stories swapped until the small hours.

The fishing is my particular interest and my experiences have been memorable, some of the best fishing for me has actually been from the bank at Toms own jetty, all species can be caught there at seemingly any time, I did in fact fish on Christmas day and caught several very nice Carp which had probably never seen a hook before (now all too rare in the UK). Driving to all the famous Ebro fishing spots is very easy, Riba Roja half an hour away, Tivenys the same, Mequinenza a very picturesque two hour drive and the Delta at less than that, so you are in a good place to be based although my opinion is the fishing is best away from the crowds.

Flights to Reus can be very cheap, my flights arranged for this May have cost me a total of £3.98 + tax!!!! (Tip for anglers book your tackle on as sporting goods before you fly, mine weighed forty kilos last time and included my tent, the cost is an each way fee of around £11.00!). Car hire is very cheap with a company called Sol Mar, they can be booked from a Spanish based website with English text at very low rates, a very good map book supplied, no extra charge for additional drivers, all cars with air-con and fully comp insurance included, (the others charge extra when picking up the car). For those who don't drive, Reus is less than an hour from the site and if you talk to Tom nicely he may pick you up and drop you back by prior arrangement at a small cost. If boat fishing is of interest this too can be arranged by prior appointment.

I went for a one off holiday and have almost rooted having gained new friends (thanks to the locals for a great New Years Eve by the way!)

Kind regards,

Peter W.

The Campsite website is down since their ISP went belly up this is an extract from their brochure

Camping Ebroasis is a rural campsite with comfortable pitches for motor homes, caravans  and  tents with a modern  shower and toilet block with free hot water, it is located on the bank of the River Ebro, so you  don’t have to travel to fish,  just walk to the bottom of the campsite and cast.  Fishing tackle hire is available on site,  we can also arrange boat fishing trips if required. The village of Ginestar, with its many fiestas, is only a five minute walk away, you will find friendly  bars, small supermarkets, bakers, banks, etc, enough to cater for your daily needs.
